Gift Aid and charitable status

Since the Siobhan Dowd Trust is not yet a registered charity, we are currently unable to benefit from Gift Aid. Nevertheless, we strongly encourage donors to complete a Gift Aid declaration so that as soon as we become registered we will be able to take advantage of the scheme. A donation of £10 made under Gift Aid is worth £12.80 to the Trust.

How does Gift Aid work?

Gift Aid is a scheme to allow tax-efficient giving to charities in the UK. If you make a Gift Aid declaration, the charity can reclaim tax on your donation. This means that for every £1 you donate, the charity can claim 28p from the Government, at no cost to yourself.

We strongly encourage all eligible donors to complete a Gift Aid declaration as this makes your donation a lot more valuable to us without costing you anything. In order to make a Gift Aid declaration

  • you must be a UK taxpayer
  • you must have paid enough income tax or capital gains tax (corporation tax for businesses) to cover the tax reclaimed by us.

If you are sending a donation by post, please print out a copy of the declaration, fill it in and enclose it with your donation. If you are donating via the website, you will automatically be asked to complete a Gift Aid declaration online.
