The Siobhan Dowd Trust

Home > Apply for funding

The Siobhan Dowd Trust is not yet accepting funding applications. Please bookmark this site and return towards the end of 2008, when we expect to be inviting applications.

In the meantime, the Trust would be pleased to receive expressions of interest and suggestions as to the projects that we might fund. If you feel that your institution or project might be able to benefit from Siobhan Dowd Trust funding in the future, we would be delighted if you would contact us.

As a guide, we envisage that the Trust may be able to support book buying and/or the establishment of reading programmes for

  • state schools with no library resources
  • young offender institutions
  • asylum detention centres
  • public libraries in economically disadvantaged areas
  • facilities for children with special needs
  • council care homes
  • women's refuges where children also live
  • respite centres used by children.

This list is not intended to be exhaustive and we would welcome further suggestions.

Please note that we are unable to consider projects that lie outside the Trust's aim of helping disadvantaged people under eighteen years of age in the UK and Ireland to discover and experience the joy of reading.
